I promise that someday I'll start a blog entry with something other than "The New York Times had an interesting story ..."

Today is not that day.

The New York Times had an interesting story this week on the project to supply those in developing nations with a cheap ($100) laptop.

These new machines have a wireless communication technology that will allow users with the same laptops to communicate. Production issues have forced the raising of the price to just under $200 per laptop.

The hope is that the machines will bring knowledge and help people of developing nations think more critically and help them innovate the world around them.

The laptops will begin production this month, but pre-orders have been very slow.

The company making them is offering a "Give 1 Get 1" program where for $400 we can buy two laptops, one for us and one to be donated to someone in a developing nation.
